This year the Conscious Living Expo is honoured to be sponsoring the humanitarian projects of Khachodling. Part proceeds of all tickets will be donated to support the education of girls and boys and the upkeep of the Hermitages and the support of the nuns in the Himalayas.
Khachodling supports sustainable Himalayan community projects and the preservation of ancient cultural traditions in the Himalayas through its Himalayan Culture and Education Fund.
In 2004 Khandro Thrinlay Chodon formally established Khachodling Trust in India. In 2009 it was also established in Australia.
All the activities and projects of Khachodling, East and West, provide an avenue for engaging in this world to collectively and individually leave positive imprints.
Founder : Khandro Thrinlay Chodon
The inspiration to create Khachodling came from Khandro Thrinlay Chodon – a modern Himalayan woman of wisdom and insight. She is an authentic female Buddhist Teacher, a living example of compassion in action. Khandro Thrinlay Chodon was born into an authentic spiritual family, that for generations have purely maintained their Vajrayana Buddhist lineage and practice.
She was raised in the high Indian Himalayas, in the lap of these great Masters and their community at a time when these ancient traditions were still intact.
Over the years since a profoundly happy childhood, Khandro Thrinlay Chodon has, like all of us, experienced suffering. The suffering of losing her parents when still young, the death of her beloved husband, of being born a woman in the East, of loss of income, community, and life’s direction, and of constantly changing circumstances.
What saw her through any difficulty were the simple truths she learned as a child. This gem was passed into her heart by her parents in the way they lived their lives as a family and community and their application of the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist yogic tradition.
Whilst she witnessed the magical powers the Himalayan yogis were famous for, such as fast walking, levitation, and drying wet towels in the snow with only their body heat, she came to realise the true magic of the Buddhist practice was in the power of the mind to know and show joy, peace, love, and equanimity, no matter what the circumstance that life or death set before them.
Khandro Thrinlay Chodon shares the wisdom and compassionate truths of her tradition with joy and eloquence that many find very relevant in this age with its own unique set of circumstances. The timelessness of these simple truths can and has been, inspiring and transformative.
Khandro Thrinlay Chodon will bless the expo and its participants at the opening ceremony as well as give a talk on the Compassion and Wisdom of the Divine Feminine and a separate session that will be a special Sound Healing. On the late afternoon of the 20th, she will give a “Blessing for Peace” as part of the Empty Sky Cosmic Cabaret.
You can meet Khandro Thrinlay Chodon at the Khachodling/Sacred Treasures booth where beautiful handcrafted products from the Himalayas will be available for sale, including precious essential oils, singing bowls, prayer flags, jewelry, incense, candles, statues, CD’s and so on. Khachodling will also be offering traditional Himalayan food and chai at its stall Sey Jigme’s Himalayan Kitchen.
